In this Vietcong game the Vietnam War had been raging for nearly twenty years, leaving millions dead. As the war drew to a close in 1975, the capital of South Vietnam, Saigon, was on the edge with 40,000 NVA fighters (North Vietnamese Army) ready to launch a deadly assault on the city
together with Vietcong fighters (a political organization in
South Vietnam with its own army who fought against both the USA
and South Vietnam troops in South Vietnam) who were already
embedded in the city, forcing the South Vietnam President Thieu to resign. Further delays allowed the Vietcong to bolster their troops further and by the end of April 1975 1000,00 troops began their assault on the city prompting the USA President Ford to order the helicopter evacuation of its troops from the city. The following day the Communists poured into Saigon encountering little resistance. The war was finally over and the Americans had been humiliated.
