It is generally accepted that the German's had better tanks as they were equipped with high explosive shells and the British tanks were also notoriously unreliable. Desert tanks were mainly used in the campaigns between 10th June 1940 until 13th May 1943 in the Libya and Egyptian deserts as well as in Tunisia and Morocco.
